Colchester Recovery Centre

Equity Insurance Partnerships is raising funds for a new Colchester residential recovery centre which helps British Army soldiers wounded in battle.

It is promoting a Royal British Legion home insurance scheme which channels Poppy Appeal donations to the construction of a new Personnel Recovery Centre dedicated to offering wounded, injured and sick soldiers additional care and support to help them successfully return to duties or transition into civilian life.

The ‘Poppy Insure’ household insurance scheme provides £90 cash back to any British Legion supporter who takes out a policy before December 2011 (Terms and Conditions apply, please see the Poppy Insure website for more details). The scheme supports the RBL’s 90th anniversary and makes donations for every policy taken.

Joseph Dublin, Corporate and Trust Relations Manager for The Royal British Legion said: “The Personnel Recovery Centre in Colchester Garrison will be the first purpose-built facility of its kind and will provide residential accommodation for 29 soldiers and 31 day attendees. The building's capital costs have been funded by Help for Heroes, while The Royal British Legion will meet the centre's running costs.”

Charles Offord, Managing Director of Equity Insurance Partnerships added: 'Being based in the military town of Colchester, we are aware of the Legion's involvement with the new Personnel Recovery Centre being built at Colchester Garrison. Through this and other fundraising initiatives, we are determined to help the Legion raise vital funds in their 90th anniversary year to support this and other important welfare support projects.”

Construction of the Personal Recovery Centre is expected to be completed by early 2012.
